Hospital is where people feel the most helpless, reliant for all their needs on others. With this short project, the aim was to give the patients maximum control over their environment, adding a personal touch when in a general hospital ward. This would allow the patient to have a small part of control over what can otherwise be quite a daunting experience.

After conducting a survey it became clear that key issues faced were: lack of privacy, problems with security, issues with noise and lighting and difficulties in alerting staff to embarrassing scenarios. An out of the box team project, we decided to create the Ambient Recovery Capsule, an integrated and futuristic concept to give patients back a degree of privacy and dignity. An easy to interact with tablet interface ensures maximum command over their space.
